Parts of the Computer


Main parts of a computer:

This is a personal computer. It is also called a desktop computer. A desktop computer has four main parts. They are the monitor, the keyboard, the mouse and the CPU box.

Monitor:

The monitor looks like a TV screen. It shows all the work done by the computer.

Keyboard:

 The keyboard has a number of keys. The standard keyboard has 104 keys. We use these keys to type words, numbers and symbols.

Mouse:

We use mouse to point to or select items on the screen. We also use teh mouse to give commands to the computer.

CPU:

The CPU (Central Processing Unit) box contains the central processing unit or CPU and the memory of the computer. The CPU is mainly known as the brain of the computer.

 The computer also has many other parts. Let's learn about them.
A computer system has many other useful parts. These parts are known as computer peripherals.

Printer:

What we see on the monitor can be printing using a printer. The printouts can be in colour or black and white.

 Joystick:

A joystick makes computer games a lot of fun. When it is moved, it gives signals to the computer.

Microphone:

A microphone helps us record speech and songs in the computer.

Webcam:

A webcam is a camera connected to the computer. It takes pictures and stores them in the computer. It is also used to communicate other people on the internet.

 Projector:

The projector shows us the contents on the monitor on a large screen. This is useful when you want many people to see a movie or a presentation.

 Scanner:

A scanner can copy written text and pictures from a page and store them in the computer.

Worksheet:

As an assessment tool, worksheets are often utilized by teachers to know student's previous knowledge, outcome of learning, and process of learning. At an equivalent time, they will be used to enable students to monitor the progress of their own learning.
